Wondercon 2008

This was my very first time going to Wondercon.
I went with Lalaine and her brodah. I can't really
say too much about it because I didn't check out
everything. When we got there, we went straight
to the hall that had all the panels for certain up-
coming movies. We watched two panels. One for
"Forgetting Sarah Marshall," a comedy starring
Jason Segal, Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Russell
Brand (he's pretty crazy), and Jack McBrayer.
The movie seems funny. Something I may want
to watch. It was also my very first panel. I felt
special to be a part of it. The second panel was
for "Wanted," starring Morgan Freeman, Angelina
Jolie, and James McAvoy, who was the only one
there for the panel. The clip they showed for the
movie was a never-released clip. So I felt special
about that too. After the panel, Lalaine and I were
lucky to meet James McAvoy up-close and personal.
(We both got wristbands while waiting in line by
doing a simple, small drawing to meet him.) It really
was pretty personal. Each person had their own one-
on-one time with him, which allowed for short conver-
sation. I asked him how his visit was to SF and he said
he didn't spend much time here because his flight was
cancelled the night before. Then, I thanked him for
coming up and said "Good luck on the Oscars," which
was that Sunday night. He was a very nice person. He
even introduced himself and initiated shaking people's
hands. Usually it's a restriction for some reason. The only
negative was that we couldn't take a picture with him.
We got his autograph, but I prefer pictures. It's more
exciting that way. After the signing, we went to go check
out the massive area with all the artists, vendors, and
freebies, but it was almost closing time so we didn't get to
look at everything. I was considering buying a Yoshi plush,
but I didn't. Maybe next time. I went on the first day and it
wasn't too crazy. I didn't get to see that many people
wearing costumes. I heard it was pretty crowded over the
weekend though. No matter what, I still had a pretty awe-
some time. (I want to mention and thank the lady that was
behind Lalaine and I in line. She gave her wristband to me.
That was very kind of her. I didn't get the chance to thank
her again when I left the panel.)

My Kelly Claaarkson pic. It's her drink, her video hat.
I look sick. Literally. I was.

Ohh the irony...

Jason Segal...the dude trying to "forget Sarah Marshall"

Kristen Bell...she's Sarah Marshall and that
Veronica Mars/Heroes chick

Mila Kunis...It's Meg from Family Guy and
Ashton Koosher's gf in That 70s Show
(a lucky guy got to take a pic with her on this stage)

Russell Brand...yup, he's the crazy British dude.
Youtube him. He's quite strange.

Jack McBrayer...and one of the writers

James McAvoy...one of the nicest people I've met so far
My poster. He even personalized it! It's a little
cut off. It says "Choose Your Destiny 2008."
Thanks James!

I watched the Academy Awards two nights after
meeting James McAvoy and I thought it was so
weird seeing him there. It's like 'Hey I just met
that guy in person.' He's very Scottish. He's
pretty well-known for his role in "Atonement."
The only movie I've seen him in was new movie
"Penelope." It's a cute movie. I liked it.
