coastal processes and landforms, which
caught my attention because I have
actually been on a wave-cut platform and
I knew exactly what the teacher was
talking about. I climbed up to the top of
the platform and the view was amazing.
I also wondered how the structure was
made. It resembled a pyramid with huge
steps. I researched it in the book. A wave-
cut platform happens when wave action
cuts a horizontal bench in the tidal zone
and extends from a sea cliff out into the
sea. Over time, if the relationship between
land and sea level changes, terraces and
multiple platforms form like stairsteps.
It is weird how nature works. The plat-
form that I stood on was in San Diego at La
Jolla Beach. I actually like that beach better
than Ocean Beach in San Francisco. It is
usually too cold to go there.
